Out of the entire U.City gradating class of 2009 one hundred percent of the students earned admission to four year colleges and universities. College Bound is a program that assists students who are the first in their family to attend college, as well as students of average grades that need a push in studies excellence and that plan on applying to college. They provide assistance to those students who take it upon themselves to obtain an education.
“I think College Bound is a great program for any student serious about attending college”, said College Bound counselor Maria Reilly.
College Bound takes many trips to different places with different activities to do. Here you may get some volunteer hours. There are events working with hospitals homeless shelters, helping sickly cancer patients and poverty stricken families.
“College Bound is a great way to earn volunteer hours,” said junior Semont Lee-Davis.
College Bound gives students their students on college. In the program, students are able to travel to different colleges to observe the various atmospheres. This gives students the opportunity to learn about colleges and universities near and far from them.
The educational voyages and extra knowledge gained from them. Helps students in the program choose the best school for them. They educate students on what a college application consist of. They assist seniors complete their college applications and resumes.
“College applications are stressful and College Bound really helps to relieve that stress,” stated senior John Williams.
College Bound brings many different students from different school and regions together as well. There are meetings and activities where all members meet in one particular area. At these gatherings students do activities that allow students to interact with people they have never seen, as well as the people they see everyday.
The big rave about College Bound is the snacks and juice passed out at the beginning of each class. “There would be no College Bound without the snacks,” said senior Alexis Andrews.
College Bound doesn’t just help during high school, but college as well. They keep track of your college career and keep in contact with students, even after college. College Bound has been a useful tool to many.
“College Bound is one of the best things that ever happened to me,” said Chelsea Lever-White.
