Digesting as quickly as they could, students gulped down Jumbo Marshmallows during lunch for the title of food eating champ of their lunch. On October 8 during A, B, and C lunch in the cafeteria the student counsel held the first ever “University City High School Food Eating Contest”. The contest was a fund raiser for which all proceeds went toward Student Council to help the school.
StuCo members took a shift each lunch. They collected money, passed out the plates and marshmallows, and watched to make sure everyone showed good sportsmanship.
Students crowded around the tables where competitors paid their four dollars to enter the contest. Competitors were given ten jumbo marshmallows, provided by StuCo and the first person to finish at each lunch was the winner and received a certificate. On the count of Mr. Daly, the competitors raced to devour the large soft marshmallows.
The competitors had their game faces on, but in all the competitiveness there was much laughter and excitement from the large crowd surrounding the table placed in the middle of the cafeteria.
The winners of each lunch were:
A Lunch- Kylann ClayBorn
B Lunch- Jordan Ragsdale
C Lunch- Darion Boure
