Rain doesn’t stop first day of school tradition

Despite the gloomy weather, UCHS teachers, alumni and central office staff showed out in full force to greet high school students on their first day. The annual event has become a U. City tradition, drawing plenty of news coverage and attention from community members.

Students began to shuffle in from the bus around 7:15 and were quickly greeted with handshakes, high fives and fist bumps as they walked down the red carpet. The drumline also showed out on the front steps, as the lionettes danced to their beat. Students were then welcomed into the building by the golden girls, who took over the main hallway.

This marked the fourth year of the red carpet tradition.
