To show their good will and competitive side, U. City faculty and students during the week of Nov. 15 participated in a penny pincher fundraiser. StuCo held a Penny Pinch to raise money to donate to St. Louis Children’s Hospital. For the fundraiser, pennies were counted as positive points and silver coins and other currency were counted as negative points. This competition has been a tradition for several years.
“Since seniors win every thing I wanted to make sure that my class won,” said junior Kylann Clayborn.
Clayborn helped her junior class win the competition with a total of 3,460 pennies. The competition is a way to get students interested in the fundraiser.
“I am just so happy that we raised a lot of money and I also would like to thank Ms. Nooner in the business office who counted all of the pennies,” said Mr. Daly, StuCo sponsor and U.S history teacher.
Over the course of one week StuCo raised $192.06. All the proceeds were made in the name of chemistry teacher Mr. Brooks’ daughter, who recently passed away due to cancer.
