Happy New Year!  Also, happy birthday, Capricorns, and happy belated birthday to all you Caps with a December birthday!  Before we get to the horoscopes and predictions of the month, we are going to honor all of you lovely Capricorns with the story of how a sea-goat became stars in the sky.

For those of you who don’t know, the zodiac sign of Capricorn is represented by a sea-goat, and for those of you who are wondering as to why, here are the answers.

In Greek mythology, an immortal storm giant named Typhon brought chaos to Olympus as he destroyed everything that stood in his way; he was so evil and ruthless that even the gods and goddesses feared him.  Many of the Greek deities ran from Typhon’s wrath by disguising themselves as animals and getting past him in order to find a safe haven.  Zeus, being the king of the gods, felt that it was his place to defeat the giant.  However, Zeus was defeated when Typhon tore off the tendons of Zeus’ hands and feet.  Typhon gave the tendons to Delphyne, who was half woman and half serpent.

However, the gods and goddesses weren’t going to just sit around and let this happen.  Hermes, the messenger of the gods, and Aegipan, a mountain god, ventured to retrieve the tendons for Zeus. Aegipan was a pane, a creature with the head of a goat and the body of man.  As the two gods traveled to Delphi to steal the body parts from Delphyne, they encountered Typhon at the river.  To get past the giant, Ageipan transformed his body into a goat to match his goat head, but instead of having hind legs, he had a fish tail.  Ageipan, as a sea-goat, swam through the river as Hermes rode on his back underwater.  They made their way to Delphyne and stole back Zeus’s tendons.  When they returned them to Zeus, he regained his strength and managed to defeat Typhon.  After the giant was killed, Zeus honored Aegipan, in his sea-goat form, by putting him in the sky as the Capricorn constellation.

And now you know why Capricorn is represented by the sea-goat.  The moment that you’ve all been waiting for has arrived. Though I’m rather certain that most of you haven’t even read this introduction, here are the horoscopes for the first month of 2014.

Aries (March 21-April 19)
You are a natural daredevil and are always up to do anything, but are you really prepared for anything and everything?  This year and month will open up with a dangerous and explosive bang for you.  Even though you may not realize it, things will be completely out of control all around you.  However, if you just surround yourself with friends there will be clarification.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
January for you, will be full of demanding friendships and getting through to someone who doesn’t understand.  As long as you strive for peace you can weed out the problems of these demanding friendships.  Give it your all to solve these issues, but don’t put any of your emotions into your work this month.

Gemini (May 21-June 20).
This month should be the time of the year that you take care of your finances and money.  So, if you still have your winter holiday money, hoard it, and wait for a later time in the year to use on something extravagant.  If you already have your eye on something, now is the time to start saving up.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
The first month of the new year will be a storm for you, Cancer.  And when it rains, it pours.  You’ll go through turbulent emotions as you try to find your way around problems, and if you aren’t careful, it could end up rather unpleasant for you.  By the end of the month you will find salvation, but it will be after your rollercoaster of emotions.  Stay strong, Cancer.

Leo (July 23-Aug 22)
Although you may be trying to keep your feelings separate from your school work, now is not the time for that.  You need to embrace your feelings, and use them to make most of your decisions this month.  Along with that, if any problems arise, feel free to communicate and negotiated your way out of these issues with your natural sunny charm.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22)
While we may be back at school and you might be ready to get down business, you just need to calm down, and go with the flow.  Just let things go and allow yourself to be worry-free and serene.  Have fun, but take into account the risks of fun without over analyzing them to the point that it isn’t fun anymore.  If you find a balance, then January will be an exciting month for you.

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22)
You’re feeling the urge for excitement and rather risky behaviors this month, Libra, but that is not advised.  There could be conflict in your social relationships, but as long as you and a friend share a common goal, you will be able to achieve the risks that you want to take in a more interesting and healthier way.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)
Have you ever felt like things can be destructive and beautiful at the same time, Scorpio?  Because that is exactly what January will be for you.  Things will be in complete and total chaos, but you will be so strong that you will step on all of your problems as if they’re cockroaches.  Issues could blow up, but your decisions will make all of them disappear.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)
This month could start out a bit rough due to investments that you’ve made that not everyone around you completely agrees with.  To get yourself through the motions you need to communicate, you have to and you must communicate in order to get out of bad situations.  In addition to that, making a new friend will also help you through your problems of this month.

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19)
After the celebration of your birthday, you, will be feeling in the mood to make the great memories with your friends.  While it could be stressful to see new horizons, you will have to fight to get what you want, and if you ever need any help, look to your older and wiser friends for advice and to lend a hand in your troubles.

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)
You have been known to be outspoken in your opinions, and you always try to compromise in order to make things better for you.  Unfortunately, this month you won’t have much control anything that is happening around.  The best way to get through your troubles is to wait it out and surround yourself with friends and loved-ones.

Pisces (Feb 19-March 20)
This month has you running in circles, and it won’t really do anything for you at all.  Your problems seem to be similar to those of a dog that is chasing its tail.  At the end of the month, after all of the confusion from the problems you face, you will find understandings and answers.  However, these answers won’t bring you closure or peace.
