It’s December, which means that winter break and finals are upon us.  Stress and excitement aside, there are some special people’s birthdays this month.  I’m talking about all of the wonderful Sagittarians out there; and I’m sorry if you’re a Sagittarius and your birthday is in November, happy belated.  Before we get to the predictions for this month, we’re going to talk about the myth of Sagittarius.

Sagittarius is depicted by an archer, but not just any archer, a centaur archer.  For those of you that need a Greek mythology refresher, a centaur is a being that is half human and half horse.

The centaur archer’s name is Chiron, and he was the king of the centaurs.  Chiron was a very optimistic and social horse-person; both of these personality traits are reflected in Sagittarians.

Since Chiron had many talents such as archery, music, medicine and philosophy, most of the Grecian kings had him be the tutor and trainer for the princes of Greece.  This explains why Sagittarians are the most philosophical and talented people.

Chiron also trained many famous Greek heroes like Jason, Achilles and Heracles (who most people know as by his Roman name, Hercules).  If don’t know who any of those people are, try to remember that the Internet is your friend.

One day however, Chiron was accidentally shot by his pupil, Heracles.  The arrow didn’t pierce the centaur’s heart, but it was dipped in the poison from the Hydra, a giant, great, multi-headed snake monster.  Chiron did his best to heal himself, but he couldn’t.  Since he was immortal he was doomed to suffer with poison forever.

Meanwhile, Prometheus was chained up to a rock for eternity as punishment by the gods for giving humans fire.  Heracles was able to persuade Zeus into letting Prometheus free if someone else would take his place.  In order to rid himself of agony and finally die, Chiron took Prometheus’ place and gave up his own immortality.  After the centaur’s death Zeus made the constellation of Sagittarius in his honor.  This clarifies why Jupiter, which is Zeus’ Roman counterpart, is the planet that rules Sagittarius.  Considering Zeus’ long list of lovers, it spells out why Sagittarius is the zodiac sign most likely to commit infidelity.

Now, on to the moment you all have been waiting for, the horoscopes.

Aries (March 21-April 19)
Buckle up, Aries; this month is going to be a bumpy ride for you.  Expect a great amount of unfriendly conflict.  You will be experiencing strong emotions and arguments that could lead to falling-outs.  If you feel that someone doesn’t deserve to be in your circle of friends then you shouldn’t shut them out.  All you need to do is pipe down and learn how to be patient for once.

Taurus (April 20-May 20)
As you enter December, Taurus, you’ll be feeling very relaxed.  Enjoy it while you can; this is the calm before the storm.  You will deal with more responsibly and limits.  This could possibly lead to a relationship that you could learn from and broaden your horizons.  Cherish this relationship because it could be here today and gone tomorrow.

Gemini (May 21-June 20)
December should be very exciting and colorful for you, Gemini.  There could be some to little conflict in your life this month.  If a problem does arise all you have to do is talk your way out of it with your fantastic wit and charm.  Do this and you’ll find plenty gifts under the Christmas tree this season.

Cancer (June 21-July 22)
As winter break approaches, you’ll be feeling more and more sentimental than usual, Cancer.  You will be looking forward to coming together with all of your friends and family.  With all of the love that you’re giving to others right now, it’s okay to be selfish and want some affection for yourself.  Just be careful; things may seem just fine but the end of 2013 will prove you wrong.

Leo (July 23-Aug 22)
You’ll be tying up all of the loose strings from your problems that occurred earlier in the year, Leo.  You won’t even have to try to solve these problems; you’ll just calmly solve them like a boss.  After all your situations are gone, you’ll want to enjoy the holidays.  If you’re waiting under the mistletoe for someone, just wait and they will find you.

Virgo (Aug 23-Sep 22)
Lucky Virgo, you won’t have to jump through hoops this month.  You feel that this might also be the time to be more romantic than usual and create some awesome memories.  Go for it!  Don’t be afraid to express yourself.  However, the end of the year could bring you a not-so-happy surprise.

Libra (Sep 23-Oct 22)
Lights.  Camera.  Action.  This is month for you to steal the spotlight, Libra.  You’ll be experiencing a rush of intense emotions and passion as the month begins.  However, your fate at the end of the month could result in a happy ending or a tragedy.  It will be up to you to balance out your future.

Scorpio (Oct 23-Nov 21)
Poor Scorpio.  Let me give you a pity hug.  December will be ice cold for you.  Things may seem fine at first, but problems will arise.  In order to solve them you’ll have to talk it out with the people that you care about.  Communication will be needed.  If you don’t have it then things will quickly reach their boiling point.

Sagittarius (Nov 22-Dec 21)
Your fairy godmother has come to save you from your troubles and loneliness that you have felt, Sagittarius.  Things will become more delightful and social for you.  Unfortunately, this magic only lasts till midnight, Cinderella.  Your happiness and joy will gradually leave you as the winter holidays approach and make you stressed.

Capricorn (Dec 22-Jan 19)
If you’ve ever felt lonely or unloved, I’m here to tell you that that time is over, Capricorn.  Now’s the time for you to make another friend or find someone to be more than a friend.  Don’t stress about it; this could be a love-at-first-sight for you.  Regardless of who you find in your social circle, you will not regret meeting them; you’ll make the best of memories with this person.

Aquarius (Jan 20-Feb 18)
In a month of ice and snow, things for you, Aquarius, will feel very cold.  You will be haunted by memories of betrayal and loneliness.  Surround yourself with delightful people and their joy will rub off onto you.  Strengthen this relationship and keep them close; their good or bad luck could indirectly affect you.

Pisces (Feb 19-March 20)
All of your complications and issues that you have dealt with have washed away with the waters of the storm.  You will be back to your usual optimistic self, Pisces.  It’s time for you sit down, relax, enjoy the holidays and make memories.  Feel free to be sentimental and reminisce this winter holiday as well.
