“I have been trying to get some sleep, I practice a lot even though sometimes I don’t get the dances, I still try to manage to put my best forward,” said senior Latonya McPherson.
All of that hard work paid off when the evening of Dec. 4 arrived. While dancers prepared to show their talents, crowds of people started to make their way into the auditorium for a performance that many had waited for.
The lights dimmed, the curtains opened, the music started to play and the auditorium filled with silence. “I think that the concert was better this year because there’s more people who are performing and there are better dancers. We all worked really hard for this concert,” said sophomore Natasha Wiley.
After every performance the crowd showed how much they enjoyed the show by screaming out names of performers, giving more than enough applause, and staying glued to their seats until the kinesis concert was officially over.
“The crowd was full of personality because before we started dancing they were screaming and yelling after we were finished dancing they were clapping and cheering for us,” said sophomore Natasha Wiley.
Junior Kadeasha Williams really looked forward to seeing hip-hop dances because they were very interesting. The show was filled with jazz, ballet, tap and hip-hop dancers.
“I feel like dancing is a part of me and will always be a part of my life. The stage is my second home and the kinesis is a privilege. I take dancing very seriously and it’s my first priority, next to school,” said Junior Romiyus Gause.
